Traffic was heavy, but moving Wednesday morning near the H-1/H-2 merge after the Zipperlane opened late because of mechanical difficulties.

The H-1 Freeway Zipper Lane is open after mechanical difficulties delayed its opening Wednesday morning.

The lane that usually opens at 5:30 a.m. opened to motorists at 5:43 a.m.

Department of Transportation Spokeswoman Caroline Sluyter said a Zip Mobile was losing hydraulic fluid, forcing the crew to switch to another Zip Mobile. Sluyter said the second mobile overheated but crew members were able to repair it.

The Zipper Lane is open to all motorists Wednesday morning because of the delay, Sluyter said.
