A tip helped Big Island police arrest a Puna man on drug offenses and seize more than 17 grams of crystal methamphetamine or "ice."

Keith Frendo, 49, was charged Wednesday with methamphetamine trafficking and several drug charges. His bail was set at $64,250.

Armed with a warrant, vice section officers entered Frendo’s Orchidland home early Wednesday and recovered 17.7 grams of ice, a small amount of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia.

Officers also seized a 2005 Ford pickup and $3,721 in cash.

Police ask the public to call the department’s 24-hour ice hotlines with anonymous information about ice and other illegal drugs. The hotline numbers are (808) 329-0423 in Kona and (808) 934-8423 in Hilo.
