Big Island police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man who was armed with a knife and robbed a Hilo service station Saturday.

Police said the man entered at 7:45 p.m. Saturday the 76 station at Ainako Avenue and Kaumana Drive.

The man brandished a knife and demanded money, police said.

He fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, and was last seen running up Ainako Avenue, police said.

Police said a dark-colored Scion with after-market rims was seen in the gas station parking lot during the robbery and its occupants may have witnessed the robbery.

Anyone with information about the Scion occupants or the robbery are asked to call officer Donovan Kohara or officer Clive Okino at the Police Department’s nonemergency number at 935-3311.

Anonymous calls may be made to CrimeStoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona.
