The University of Hawaii at Manoa issued a security alert yesterday after a student living in the Hale Wainani apartments reported being sexually assaulted in her room overnight by a man she met on the Internet.

Campus security said Honolulu police are investigating and have identified a suspect who is not believed to be a UH-Manoa student.

It is the second security alert issued after an alleged sex assault in the dorms in recent weeks. On Oct. 24, a female student reported being assaulted in the Hale Noelani apartments. Campus security said a suspect, who is also not a UH-Manoa student, has been identified by police in that case.
