All vehicles must be moved from Ala Moana Park by 10 p.m. July 3 as the city prepares for the 4th of July fireworks show on Magic Island.

The City will continue the practice of allowing limited access at Ala Moana Park overnight from July 3 to July 4 for residents wishing to hold picnic sites. 

At 4 a.m. on July 4, vehicles and additional people will be allowed to enter the park. 

The park is normally closed from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m. daily, but on July 3, the City will make an exception and allow canopies and up to two people to stay at each site overnight in order to establish picnic sites for the July 4th celebration. Tents, alcoholic beverages, fireworks, and animals are not allowed. 

Mayor Kirk Caldwell said: “Allowing limited access to the park overnight accommodates Oahu residents who want to secure picnic sites for their families and friends on July 4th, while maintaining public safety. The policy has worked well in recent years and we want to keep the park available for families to enjoy this great American holiday.”
