Parked cars and beachgoers were seen along Kaelepulu Drive near Lanikai in Kailua. Lanikai will be designated as a “special enforcement district” over the holiday weekend, meaning absolutely no parking will be permitted on the shoulders of public roads and streets in Lanikai between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. from Saturday through Monday.

Parking will again be prohibited on all streets and shoulders in Lanikai this coming Memorial Day weekend through Monday.

The city said Lanikai will be designated as a “special enforcement district,” meaning absolutely no parking will be permitted on the shoulders of public roads and streets in Lanikai between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. from Saturday through Monday.

The restriction also applies to Lanikai residents. Early morning visitors to Lanikai and area residents are cautioned to remove their cars from public streets by 10 a.m. on these dates.

Police will enforce the ban by ticketing and towing violators.

Those wishing to access Lanikai Beach or the Lanikai Pillbox Trail over the three-day Memorial Day weekend between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. may walk, bike, take TheBus Route 70 Lanikai Shuttle, or get dropped off in Lanikai.
