Coast Guard rescue personnel suspended their search for a 57-year-old man who reportedly fell overboard Saturday morning during a fishing trip some 13 miles south of Waikiki.

The man was first reported to be in water around 8:50 a.m.

A Coast Guard rescue boat and helicopter were dispatched shortly after 9 a.m. and the Coast Guard cutter Galveston Island later joined in the effort.

A Coast Guard spokesperson said the search, which was suspended shortly after 7 p.m., will remain suspended “pending further developments.”
