Brother Daniel Casey has been named principal of Damien Memorial School starting next semester.
Casey will replace Brother Peter Zawot, who has been Damien principal since 2010, according to a news release from the school.
Casey has been a member of the Christian Brothers’ Province Leadership Team in North America for the past nine years.
Zawot has been promoted to a position on the North American provincial leadership team which is based in his home state of New Jersey, according to Bernard Ho, Damien’s president and CEO.
Casey, a Chicago native, has a B.A. in speech and drama from Lewis College and a master of arts in communication arts from Notre Dame. He also has a masters from the University of San Francisco’s Institute for Catholic Educational Leadership in private school administration.
Casey has been head of school at Seton Catholic High School in Chandler, Ariz.; and Brother Rice High School in Chicago, Ill.
Damien is a 6th-12th grade school founded in 1962. It is currently coed from grade 6 to grade 10.
