Earthquake near Fiji ‘too deep’ to generate tsunami

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii from a strong, deep earthquake that struck near Fiji on Monday morning.
The earthquake was centered about 62 miles north northeast of Ndoi Island, Fiji, and 232 miles east southeast of Suva, Fiji, at a depth of about 382 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
It happened at about 2:54 a.m. Fiji time (3:54 a.m. Hawaii time).
The warning center said no tsunami was generated because the earthquake was too deep inside the earth.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
