Entertainer charged in stabbing of girlfriend in Kahaluu

A  26-year-old local musician was charged early this morning for allegedly stabbing his live-in girlfriend with an 8-inch butter knife Thursday.

Kaipo Kapua is charged with second-degree assault, two counts of terroristic threatening, and one count of abuse of a household member, according to police records.

Kapua had originally been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and kidnapping.

Kapua and his 23-year-old girlfriend got into an argument at about 9 a.m. Thursday, and the argument escalated, police said. Kapua then allegedly began choking the woman and threatened to kill her.

Police said she was stabbed in the right knee, causing a deep puncture wound.Police arrested Kapua Friday at 1:55 a.m. at the couple’s Kahaluu home.

He remained in police custody Saturday morning, unable to post $50,000 bail.
