Father, son rescued after being washed off rocky area at Sharks Cove
Ocean Safety and Honolulu Fire Department personnel rescued a father and son who were washed off a rocky area and into the ocean at Sharks Cove in Pupukea today.
The incident occurred about 4 p.m.
Both the 43-year-old father and his 12-year-old son suffered lacerations and were transported to a hospital in serious condition.
Ocean Safety officials are reminding the public to use caution around shorelines and to stay away from wet rocks, which are an indicator that surf is pounding onto the ledge.

Father should be arrested for putting his son in danger!!!
We put lifeguards at pools and yet popular ocean recreational areas like sharks cove with large numbers of people and with known risks and frequent accidents must rely on guards 3/4 of a mile a way at Waimea Bay or a roving patrol. These are some of our best water-men and they often respond on a jet ski. The truck roving patrol should spend more time there. The winter months are particularly dangerous.
Isn’t July summer time? It’s a hurricane nearby that’s creating today’s big waves.
Could have been your final destination. Others were not as lucky this week in the water. RESPECT the ocean everyone.
