Fire causes $30,000 damage to Maui house

Fire caused an estimated $30,000 in damage to a single-family home in Wailea on Friday afternoon.

The fire was first reported at 12:23 p.m. at a two-story structure at Wailea Ekolu place. Firefighters from Kihei and Wailea found flames rolling over the ceiling and cabinatry of a laundry room inside the home. The fire was brought under control by 12:37 p.m. and fully extinguished by 3:47 p.m.

Damage was estimated at $20,000 to the structure and $10,000 to its contents.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire in still under investigation.
