Fire causes $600,000 damage to multifamily dwelling on Maui

Maui fire crews extinguished a $600,000 fire Sunday at a multifamily dwelling, 204 Humupea Place in Kihei.

When firefighters arrived at the building, flames could been seen at the rear of the home.

The fire was reported at 1:42 p.m. and was reported under control 3:25 p.m. and extinguished at 5:57 p.m.

Fire inspectors and Maui police were on scene conducting an investigation.

Fire officials said damages were $450,000 to structure and $150,000 to contents. No information was available on cause.
