Firefighters on Lanai said a small fire behind the Lanai police station was doused Tuesday afternoon.

Maui County authorities said firefighters reponded to the call for a brush fire at 3:47 p.m., and found a small grass fire burning in a vacant lot about 50 yards to the rear of the police station on Fraser Avenue. The fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished at 4:06 p.m, according to a press release.

Exact cause of the fire was undetermined, witnesses reported seeing juveniles running from the area just before the fire broke out.
