Firefighters quickly bring under control a brush fire near Central Oahu Regional Park

Six engine companies, three tankers and the Honolulu Fire Department helicopter were dispatched to a brush fire at the western end of Patsy T. Mink Central Oahu Regional Park this evening.

The fire appeared to be near the gulch on the Waikele end of the park, said fire Capt. Robert Main.

The fire was reported at 5:32 p.m. and firefighters had it under control at 6:31, Main said.

The Waipio-Mililani region has been subject to a number of brush fires in recent months.
