Fire investigators sift through a burned house on 41-230 Huli Street in on Sunday, March 25, 2012 after a fire late Saturday night.

Two separate fires caused $340,000 in damage to a home in Waimanalo and $350,000 to another home in Ewa Beach over the weekend, Honolulu Fire Capt. Robert Main said.

The destruction to the two-story home along Makalea Loop in Ewa Beach early Sunday morning included $150,000 to the structure and $150,000 in damage to the contents, including a 2009 Porsche and an electrical vehicle, Main said.

The fire began in the enclosed garage and spread to two bedrooms located directly above the garage, Main said.

It was reported at 12:14 a.m. and 36 firefighters had it under control at 12:48 a.m., Main said.

The cause remains under investigation.

Three vehicles inside the garage — including the Porsche and E.V. — were not parked near the source of the fire, Main said.

A family of five that lived in the home are staying with relatives, Main said.

Officials investigating an unrelated fire on Huli Street in Waimanalo have been unable to determine the cause, but believe it started in a utility room behind the garage, Main said.

The fire was reported at 10:19 p.m. Saturday night and 32 firefighters had it under control at 11:06 p.m. and extinguished at 12:58 a.m., Main said.

An undetermined number of people were living in the house, which had no electrical service, Main said.

No one was injured.
