The National Weather Service lifted a flood advisory Friday night for Windward Oahu after rains subsided.

Between 6:45 and 7:48 p.m. Friday, the Olomana Fire Station gauge reported a rate of 2.4 inches falling per hour while the gauge at Hakipuu Mauka had a rate of 1.56 inches per hour. Radar also showed heavy rain over Maunawili, falling at 1.5 inches per hour.

In the 24-hour period ending at 8 p.m., Hakipuu Mauka recorded more than 4.5 inches of rain. Kahan got more than 3 inches and Punaluu saw nearly 3 inches.

Forecasters say the rains shouldn’t be as heavy over the weekend. But trade winds will weaken and the weather will be hot and muggy, with afternoon clouds forming over leeward and interior areas of the islands.
