Hana Airport will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday nights through Friday mornings for a $900,000 project to replace airfield wiring and light fixtures, the state said.

The project will run from Sunday through the end of August.

The nighttime closures will not affect air service to Hana Airport, as no flights are scheduled during those overnight hours. Daytime flight operations will continue as normal.

An alternate landing zone for medevac helicopters has been set up.
