A 12-year-old boy who underwent treatment for a brain tumor is collecting thousands of letters to help fund wishes for Hawaii children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Last year doctors discovered Reece Goo of Kailua had a malignant brain tumor. While in treatment, the Make-A-Wish Foundation granted him his wish to go to Disney World. The foundation’s Hawaii chapter says Thursday marks a year since his last treatment.

He heard about Macy’s Believe Campaign that donates $1 to the foundation for every Christmas wish letter.

So he decided to collect 5,000 letters to help other kids get their wishes granted. Macy’s announced it will double the donation for every letter submitted Friday.

Goo and Honolulu Mayor Peter Carlisle will deliver thousands of letters to Macy’s at Ala Moana Center today.
