Hawaii County police closed portions of Route 190 and the Daniel K. Inouye Highway late this afternoon due to numerous brush fires in the Waikoloa area.

A bulletin issued at 6:21 p.m. said that numerous fires on Route 190 from Kaiminani to Waikoloa Road and the Daniel K. Inouye Highway from Route 190 to the old Saddle Road Junction, required the closures.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and to take alternate routes.
