Hawaii island man charged in burglary of Hawaiian Acres house
Police have arrested and charged a 42-year-old Pahoa man today in the June 9 burglary of a 65-year-old man’s Hawaiian Acres subdivision house.
Police conducted an investigation into the burglary in which the house on Road 9 was broken into and some household items were taken.
That led to identifying Billymack Moore as the suspect, police said.
Officers arrested Moore today while in custody for unrelated offenses.
He was charged with first-degree burglary and fourth-degree theft.
His bail was set at $10,250.
He is scheduled to make his initial court appearance Friday.

Bail at $10,250 for basically damaging not only a resident’s home and stealing his property but his sense of security in his own home? No wonder burglary is such a problem. We need to get tough on property crime. Until then we will continue to see it as a problem. The only true deterent to burglary and other property crime is longer prison time. Oftentimes these criminals will have a long history of being caught and repeating the crime. We need consequences that will actually discourage the criminal. These short prison stints only serve as a respite for offenders.
