Hawaiian Airlines begins new service to Molokai

    The 'Ohana by Hawaiian flight was Hawaiian's first to Molokai in about 10 years.

Hawaiian Airlines launched its new ‘Ohana by Hawaiian interisland turboprop service on Tuesday with a flight to Molokai that left Honolulu at around 10 a.m. and landed in Molokai at about 10:30 a.m.

The ‘Ohana by Hawaiian flight was Hawaiian’s first to Molokai in about 10 years. ‘Ohana will follow up with service to Lanai starting March 18, also the first for Hawaiian in a decade.

About 500 Molokai residents were on hand to welcome the flight in a ceremony that included a Hawaiian greeting chant and hula.

‘Ohana is operated by Idaho-based Empire Airlines under a contract with Hawaiian and uses 48-seat ATR 42 aircraft. It will fly to Molokai three times a day.
