Hawaiian Telcom approved to exit bankruptcy

The state Public Utilities Commission has approved Hawaiian Telcom Inc.’s plan to emerge from bankruptcy, giving the company the last approval it needed before exiting court protection.

The PUC said Hawaiian Telcom’s current rates and terms for service will not be affected with its emergence from bankruptcy and that it intends to "retain generally all of its 1,450 employees."
