A high surf advisory is in effect for the east-facing shores of all islands through Thursday evening.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service expect surf up to 5 to 8 feet through 6 p.m. Thursday.

Weather officials advise beachgoers strong longshore and rip currents, which can make swimming dangerous.
