A bodyboarder churned the sparkling break called Half Point at Sandy Beach on Monday as wave riders welcomed the sun after days of sometimes heavy rain.

A high surf advisory is in effect for the east-facing shores of most of the islands until 6 a.m. Thursday.

The swell is expected to generate surf up to 6 to 8 feet for the east shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters say the surf will remain elevated through 6 p.m. today.

Beachgoers should heed all advice from Ocean Safety officials.
