Hilo man identified as apparent drowning victim

Big Island police have identified a man who apparently drowned while swimming Monday as Noah Jolet Konelios, 28, of Hilo.

Police and firefighters responded to a report of a swimmer in distress at Puu Maile Beach Park, a diving and fishing area inaccessible by car, about 1:25 p.m. Monday.

A fire department diver recovered Konelios from the ocean floor. He died at Medical Center at 2:40 p.m.
