Hilo woman charged with forgery after cashing $9,000 in checks

A 25-year-old Hilo woman has been charged with 29 counts of theft and 28 counts of forgery after she cashed checks totaling more than $9,000 from her former employer.

Suzy Cho Chun, of Keaau, was arrested Tuesday at Hilo Airport following an investigation that she forged 28 checks from her former place of business. The checks, totaling more than $9,000, were cashed at various financial institutions around the island. She was also arrested on two counts of revocation of supervised release based on no-bail bench warrants issued by District Court.

The suspect was returning to Hilo when she was arrested at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Her bail was set at $89,750.

She was being held at Hawaii Community Correctional Center.
