Homeless man charged with murder in Maili stabbing death

    Derrick Hernandez was charged Tuesday with murder in the stabbing death of a Waianae man Sunday in Maili.

Prosecutors charged a 39-year-old homeless man with second-degree murder Tuesday in the stabbing death of a Waianae man Sunday at Maili Beach Park.

Derrick Hernandez was being held on $1 million bail.

The city Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as Frankie Feliciano Jr. of Waianae.

Feliciano, 42, was taken to a hospital early Sunday in critical condition. He died Monday afternoon. The stabbing occurred about 4:40 a.m. at Maili Beach Park.

Hernandez was arrested on Monday on suspicion of second-degree murder.
