Police arrested a 58-year-old homeless man Thursday morning on suspicion of second-degree murder in the death of another homeless man.

The suspect allegedly assaulted a 49-year-old man on Oct. 1 at Aala Park, police said.

Homicide Lt. Walter Calistro said no weapons were used in the assault, and declined to provide further details.

The victim died Oct. 10 at the hospital from his injuries, police said.

Police arrested the 58-year-old at Tripler Army Medical Center. He was convicted July 2011 of second-degree assault, and Oct. 9, 2003, of third-degree assault and second-degree terroristic threatening.

The Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Lynn Riley.

Riley died of bleeding within the skull due to blunt force injury from an assault, the Medical Examiner’s Office said. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.
