HPD holds block party to recruit crime-fighting volunteers

The Honolulu Police Department is inviting the public to a block party in Kahuku on Saturday to recruit and train volunteers to fight crime through the Windward Neighborhood Security Watch.

Music, entertainment, food, displays, presentations and training will be a part of the event at Kahuku District Park from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., HPD said in a news release.

About 300 volunteers from neighborhood security watches will walk through nearby neighborhoods and wave signs along Kamehameha Highway from 10:30 to 11 a.m.
