Hawaii Pacific University will hold a community memorial service Wednesday for student Mariah Danforth-Moore, who was fatally injured Sunday night by a hit-and-run driver as she crossed the highway just outside HPU’s windward campus.

The service will begin a noon at the AC Lanai of HPU’s Hawaii Loa campus.

Danforth-Moore, 19, was a sophomore psychology student from Oneida, Wis.

Police continued to look for the driver of a white car that a witness said hit the student in the crosswalk on Kamehameha Highway about 8:45 p.m. Sunday.

A month earlier, the state installed flashing warning lights that pedestrians can activate at the crosswalk.
