AUSTIN, Texas >> Donald Trump suggested today that he is open to “softening” laws dealing with immigrants in the country illegally, the latest sign that the Republican presidential nominee is considering easing the hardline stance he has taken since the beginning of his campaign.
Taping a town hall in Austin, Texas, for Fox News, Trump was asked by moderator Sean Hannity if he would change current statutes to accommodate law-abiding citizens or longtime residents who have raised children in the United States.
“There certainly can be a softening because we’re not looking to hurt people,” Trump answered. “We want people — we have some great people in this country.”
“We are going to follow the laws of this country,” he added
Trump has repeatedly declared that if elected, he would deport the 11 million people living in the U.S. illegally. But he has hedged his stance in recent days, and during the taping he ruminated aloud about the fairness of breaking up families. He even polled the audience about what they would do about the crucial policy.
“So you have somebody who’s been in the country for 20 years, has done a great job, and everything else,” Trump said. “Do we take him and the family and her and him or whatever and send him out?”
The crowd’s reaction was split: Some cheered when Trump suggested that the immigrants be allowed to stay, others roared when he suggested deporting them.
The Republican nominee then said he “would come out with a decision very soon” about deportations.
Trump had been scheduled to outline his immigration policies Thursday in Colorado. But that speech has been postponed, likely until next week
Trump’s public deliberation could be the latest signal that as the general campaign heats up, he is moving away from one of his divisive, signature proposals from the Republican primary in order to broaden his base of support. On Monday, he first suggested he was open to allowing some immigrants to stay, suggesting that he wanted a “fair, but firm” policy.
That is a far cry from the early days of the primaries, when Trump vowed to use a “deportation force” to round up and deport the millions of people living in the country illegally. That proposal excited many of his core supporters, but alienated Hispanic voters who could be pivotal in key states.
The celebrity businessman, however, has stuck to his vow to build a wall to fortify the nation’s southern border with Mexico and to deport immigrants here illegally who have committed criminal and violent acts.

The majority of his base is not too happy with his flip flop. They voted for him in the primaries because of his bold bs about deporting all illegal immigrants. The racists and bigots who make up a big part of his base were elated because they thought they finally had a presidential candidate who shared their ideals and wasn’t afraid to not be politically correct. Well guess what? The reality has always been that there is not enough and will never be enough hate in this country to elect a bigot to be the POTUS. The Chump is just doing what he has done his whole life. Telling the gullible what they want to hear and screw them over once he gets what HE wants. You can call yourself a victim but stooge or pawn would be more appropriate.

Because he LIED to you and broke his promise to deport ALL 11 million illegal immigrants! He LIED to you when he pretended to not mind the KKK supporting him! It’s the Democrats who separate Americans into racial groups, such as African-Americans, or Hispanic-Americans, or Asian-Americans instead of Americans of African ancestry, Hispanic ancestry, and Asian ancestry. He will follow the existing laws and work with Congress to change laws as required. The bottom line is America must protect legal citizens jobs so they can work and pay taxes.
If you commit a crime and you are caught there are consequences.
This is America, you face a judge, and if there are extenuating circumstances let the judge decide. That is the fair and best way.

He did not talk about self funding his general election campaign. Yes, his core beliefs and principles are intact. There is no pivot, just additional clarification as to how he will accomplish his objectives. Oh, watch the polls, it’s changing, even with the U.S. Senate races. Projected today is 58 Republican Senators, a gain of 4.

WASHINGTON >> More than half the people outside the government who met with Hillary Clinton while she was secretary of state gave money — either personally or through companies or groups — to the Clinton Foundation. It’s an extraordinary proportion indicating her possible ethics challenges if elected president.
At least 85 of 154 people from private interests who met or had phone conversations scheduled with Clinton while she led the State Department donated to her family charity or pledged commitments to its international programs, according to a review of State Department calendars released so far to The Associated Press. Combined, the 85 donors contributed as much as $156 million. At least 40 donated more than $100,000 each, and 20 gave more than $1 million.
Donors who were granted time with Clinton included an internationally known economist who asked for her help as the Bangladesh government pressured him to resign from a nonprofit bank he ran; a Wall Street executive who sought Clinton’s help with a visa problem; and Estee Lauder executives who were listed as meeting with Clinton while her department worked with the firm’s corporate charity to counter gender-based violence in South Africa.
The meetings between the Democratic presidential nominee and foundation donors do not appear to violate legal agreements Clinton and former president Bill Clinton signed before she joined the State Department in 2009. But the frequency of the overlaps shows the intermingling of access and donations, and fuels perceptions that giving the foundation money was a price of admission for face time with Clinton. Her calendars and emails released as recently as this week describe scores of contacts she and her top aides had with foundation donors.
The AP’s findings represent the first systematic effort to calculate the scope of the intersecting interests of Clinton foundation donors and people who met personally with Clinton or spoke to her by phone about their needs.

All that means is that Hillary is a good fund raiser who generated over $150 million while multi-tasking as Secretary of State. If you’d read the article, you’d see that she did nothing illegal. True, this sort of money making (as well as accepting millions to make speeches) may not have been the most sensible thing for someone planning to run for president. But nothing illegal, and nothing compared to the hundreds of millions Trump has made defrauding people and taking advantage of bankruptcy laws.
Don’t you want to know what your small-handed leader is hiding in his tax returns? Dealings with Russia? Not paying taxes? Being worth a lot less than even $1 billion? Smart people like to be knowledgeable and to make educated choices, so I guess you Trump fans would also like to see his tax returns. Don’t you?? Why not?????

Trump really seems to be not trying to win. He long ago realized politics is not for him. He can’t just say whatever comes to mind; he has to be consistent, or thinking people will jump all over him. His only loyal followers are not enough and don’t have enough political impact, being mostly undereducated and/or too-old white people. If he cared about his minions at all, he’d quit the race and go on to whatever he’s good at.

Trump said the other day that Obama is deporting more illegals than Trump would– Obama has deported a lot, but no where near 11 million. Trump is on the right path — provide amnesty and a path to citizenship for those that deserve it and deport criminals. This no worse than what Obama is doing and that McClain and Jeb Bush wanted.

I know of a lot of very talented potential immigrants some of which are PhDs and they can’t get a green card to reside in the USA. There are literally millions of those sorts of cases. Please elaborate why illegals whom happen to automatically be criminals deserve amnesty vs the millions of highly educated from all over the world that never get a chance to even set foot in the USA due to immigration VISA and green card quotas?

Today, Trump campaigned in a state (Mississippi) that is not in play. The only justification for this waste of campaign resources (and I’m happy that he’s wasting them) is that Trump is more interested in soaking up the adulation from his racist fans (who are a majority in Mississippi) than he is in winning an election. Violating all unwritten rules of Presidential campaigns, he brought a foreigner onstage to criticize his opponent. This is unprecedented. There are rules. Just as American politicians don’t criticize the President when they are overseas, foreigners don’t campaign in the US for American candidates. Of course, this rule was violated by Senator Cotton (Tehran Tom) who wrote to Iranian leaders in an effort to undermine the negotiations that stopped the development of Iranian nuclear weapons — an act that many, including top military leaders, regarded as an act of treason.
