Inmate missing since Feb. 19 returned to Hawaii Community Correctional Center

The state Department of Public Safety said a 35-year-old extended furlough inmate, who had been missing since Feb. 19, was returned today to the Hawaii Community Correctional Center.

Daniel Abraham was scheduled to check in Feb. 19 at the Hale Nani Reintegration Center, but never did.

Police arrested him Saturday in Kealakekua on suspicion of second-degree escape.

Abraham was serving time for first-degree assault, kidnapping and place to keep a firearm. He had been scheduled for a parole hearing in June, Public Safety said in a news release.

He was classified as community custody, the lowest custody level.
