Garrett Jefferson dribbled upcourt in the final 4.9 seconds and hit a floater at the buzzer to give Hawaii a breathless 90-88 comeback win over Cal State Fullerton tonight at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The Titans D.J. Seeley had just hit his fifth 3-pointer of the game to tie it up at 88 coming out of a Fullerton timeout. But Jefferson weaved down the lane and let it go from about 10 feet and it was all net. His teammates mobbed him on the Sheriff court.

Possession by possession, UH rallied from an 11-point deficit with 5:28 to play.

UH improved to 8-5 and 2-0 in the Big West Conference with the win before a crowd of nearly 4,000. CSUF dropped to 7-6 and 1-1.

Freshman forward Isaac Fotu led UH statistically with a career-high 29 points and nine rebounds. Christian Standhardinger and Brandon Spearman added 15 points apiece win the win.

The Titans got 26 points from Kwame Vaughn and 22 from Seeley.

The Titans scored 31 points off 20 UH turnovers. But UH shot 56.3 percent to CSUF’s 51.4 percent.

Brandon Jawato hit a corner 3-pointer to make it 82-79 with just over two minutes left. Standhardinger put UH up for the first time in the half, 85-84, with a top-arc 3 with 37.9 seconds left.

The teams went into the locker rooms tied at 40 when Seeley hit his fourth 3-pointer of the period.
