NEW YORK » Jon Stewart has told Donald Trump’s supporters they can’t take America back, because they “don’t own” the country in a riff that mirrored his signature segments on “The Daily Show.”
Stewart was back behind a late night desk Thursday night, joining former Comedy Central colleague Stephen Colbert on a live version of CBS’ “Late Show.”
Stewart took aim at some of his favorite “Daily Show” targets, Fox News and host Sean Hannity, accusing them of fostering divisiveness. He said Trump supporters feel like they’re America’s “rightful owners,” adding “you don’t own patriotism, you don’t own Christianity, you sure as hell don’t own respect for the bravery and sacrifice of military, police and firefighters.”
Stewart left the “The Daily Show” last August. He is an executive producer of Colbert’s program.

What difference does it make at this point they all died including anAmbassador. Let’s just move on. She will make a great President because she is beautiful,honest and truthful, makes good decisions, likes blacks, Latinos and women, experienced in business. Anxiously awaiting Jon’s demolition of Clinton for being a corrupt, incompetent, compulsive liar. Maybe Jon can author a Saturday night live sketch in which Clinton furiously pounds on the “reset button” while Russia invades the Ukraine or maybe a laugh-filled scene where she tells the families of the Benghazi dead that they were killed by space aliens.
Don’t like the critical review of a mouthy lib, here try on this, a brief excerpt on a rather terse take down of his ridiculous views and shallow understanding of foreign policy–by the National Review.
Donald Trump does not seem to understand that NATO is not a favor we are doing for European pals. A peaceful Europe and a constrained Russia are in America’s interests. As the last century showed, the U.S. tends to be drawn into Europe’s conflagrations; the best solution is to stop them catching alight in the first place. The primarily American military umbrella that has kept Europe more or less calm since the end of World War II has saved, and continues to save, not just European lives, but American ones.
The same is true of our other global commitments — for example, on the Korean Peninsula, where the presence of American military resources has checked the erratic North Korean regime. But Trump suggested his willingness to renegotiate, and perhaps even abandon, these arrangements, too. It is one thing to express concern about the exploitation of America’s largesse; it is another to throw out half-baked thoughts with no appreciation for the weightiness of the interests at stake.
So far Trump has given every indication that his approach to our interests abroad would be extraordinarily reckless. If his predilections were actually acted upon, it would make for a more, not less, dangerous world.

With all due respect, Pauoa_Valley, I don’t think that was Stewart’s point. He’s simply stating that Trump’s supporters have gotten out of bounds by coming out looking like they feel that they OWN America and thus know what’s better for America. As a person that believes that our party system has led to divisiveness and across-the-aisle bickering that does nothing good for the Americans (all Americans regardless of their party affiliation especially those who struggle to put food on the table and are tired of the bickering that results in shut downs), I, too, am tired of this bickering and US against THEM mentality that does a disservice to the masses. When congressmen go on a vacation while the books have not been closed there is a big problem. Both parties have been a part of the problem but this MY party against YOUR party so I will do everything to sabotage YOUR agenda is really petty. It is on the surface silly but deep in it’s core it results in NOTHING being accomplished except the further mucking of the opposing party’s chances of getting the uppper hand on the next election. It is downright a sad state of our government when attacks are now the norm and working together for a better America is now just a PARTY ideology.
In a way Trump is right, the Republican Party though conservative is and always will be representative of large controlling corporations and the overpaid, overpowering rich. So it does own America, sadly!
What is “rich”? At one point some chose to take a chance and put it ALL on the line. Their home or their life savings or even both, and risked it all. Failure is NOT an option. They provided a product or a service to the people. Through hard work, determination and endless days and nights some do make it and some do FAIL. For those who do succeed means that that product or service made sense to the people. It improved their(the peoples) quality of life. I think that it would be safe to say that all you “rich” haters have been buying said services and/or products yourselves. Now the byproduct of this success is growth which means increased staff, meaning jobs for others. Now, when some one’s success can benefit others and help THEM to be successful is that a bad thing? All you “rich” haters seem to think so. So by taking that RISK, in it’s beginning, in their garage, and growing it to a multi-million or even a multi-billion dollar success story, shouldn’t we be celebrating that success of living the American dream and use that as inspiration for us. So, instead of bitching and hating on the”rich”, go out their and make yourself RICH. That’s what America means.
Or you could have inherited your wealth like many do! And if you become “rich”, you can hire the masses as you say and pay them peanuts. But hey, as you said, go out and get rich!
