LIHUE, Kauai >> A Kauai man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for a 2012 kidnapping.

The Kauai prosecuting attorney’s office announced Blaine Wailani Reyes’ sentence Friday.

The 44-year-old Anahola man was convicted of kidnapping and robbery.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Lisa Arin says Reyes tracked down the victim at Safeway in Kapaa, held her hostage for about an hour and a half and repeatedly threatened her life. Arin says he forced the woman to withdraw $600 from an ATM.

Judge Randal Valenciano also ordered Reyes pay back the $600 in restitution and to have no contact with the victim.

Reyes faces sentencing Tuesday for theft, credit card theft and fraudulent use of a credit card in a separate incident.
