The principal of Kapaa Middle School on Kauai has been placed an administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation into a complaint, the Garden Island newspaper reported today.

Principal Nathan Aiwohi has been on administrative leave since April 17, Bill Arakaki, Kauai Complex Area superintendent, told the newspaper. DOE officials declined to comment on the nature of the complaint.

The newspaper said the investigation was launched following an April 6 online petition that listed multiple complaints against Aiwohi, who has been principal since 2007.

Three days later a petition supporting Aiwohi was posted online.
