Kapiolani Community College's Culinary Arts Program had a booth featuring food from students and instructors at the farmers market at Kapiolani Community College on June 12.

Known locally for producing successful Hawaii chefs, the culinary program at Kapiolani Community College has been named among the top 20 in the U.S. by FSR (Full-service Restaurant) magazine.

Listed in alphabetical order alongside such storied institutions as the Culinary Institute of America, Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts, and the 17 U.S. campuses of Le Cordon Bleu, KCC was one of only four community colleges that made the list.

The selected community colleges were among the schools that offer degrees, diplomas and certificates in multiple disciplines, such as culinary arts, baking and pastry arts, food, beverage and hospitality management, which had received an "exemplary" rating for three or more programs from the American Culinary Federation. The ACF is the largest professional chefs’ organization in North America and is responsible for regulatory oversight of many culinary schools.

Some of KCC’s alumni appear on its weekly show "What’s Cooking Hawaii," demonstrating dishes they have created and serve in their restaurants. The show airs on KFVE-TV.
