A brush fire that started Sunday night above the Lahaina Civic Center was about 90 percent contained yesterday, a Maui spokeswoman said.
Fire crews were still mopping up and monitoring the area for hot spots, said county spokeswoman Mahina Martin.
The fire burned vacant land about a mile from Honoapiilani Highway.
Two other fires that burned Sunday on sugar cane land near Baldwin Ave. and Mokulele were being handled by Hawaiian Commercial and Sugar Co., Martin said.
