Lifeguards rescue man from sinking 1-man canoe

Lifeguards rescued a man Saturday morning near the Halona Blow Hole after the one-man canoe he was riding in began to take on water, the Honolulu Fire Department said.

Fire rescue crews were called to the scene around 10:10 a.m., but Capt.

Chris Ah Mook Sang said their help was not needed. “Ocean safety took care of alarm,” Ah Mook Sang said. “They were able to get some crews out there and assist the gentlemen to shore.”
