Honolulu police arrested a 45-year-old Kapahulu man who allegedly tried to rob a 53-year-old acquaintance with what appeared to be a handgun.

Police said suspect entered the Kaimuki man’s Harding Avenue residence without permission at about 2:40 p.m. yesterday. The man allegedly pointed what looked like a handgun at him, demanded money and assaulted the victim with the butt of the gun, police said.

The victim called for help and roommates came to his aid, police said.

Officers arrested the suspect at the residence and recovered what appeared to be an air pistol, police said.
