A Waimea man was charged with robbing Kaumakani Thrifty Mart last month on Kauai.

Timothy Richardson, 23, was charged Friday with first-degree robbery and was being held on $20,000 bail.

Richardson entered the mart in the afternoon of March 8, wearing dark clothes and sun glasses, and walked around the store, a Kauai County spokeswoman said in a statement.

He pointed a handgun at the cashier and demanded money, the release said.

The cashier retreated and Richardson fled without money or items.
