Man faces charges again in Pearl City strip club shooting
Staff Sgt. Claude Custard twists together cable wires prior to attaching it to a ground connector Oct. 19. He is setting up a secondary distribution center generator by hooking up power cables and ground wires. This unit takes a high-voltage power from the main generators and converts it into lower voltage to the wall outlets at the MQ-1 Predator Unmanned Aerial Vehicle site. Sergeant Custard is assigned to the 407th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron electric shop and is deployed from Hickam Air Force Base
A 35-year-old Air Force sergeant was reindicted by an Oahu grand jury on Wednesday for the alleged shooting of two men outside a Pearl City strip club three years ago.
The grand jury returned indictments against Air Force Tech Sgt. Claude Custard of Ewa Beach for two counts of attempted second-degree murder and three firearms violations in connection with an early morning shooting on Dec. 3, 2011. He was rearrested and his bail was set at $1 million.
Police said Custard argued with a 24-year-old man in the Princess Palace strip club at the Pearl City Business Plaza and that the dispute continued in the parking lot at 803 Kamehameha Hwy.
Custard allegedly fired a handgun as one of the two men drove off, striking one man multiple times and critically injuring him. Custard then fired at the second man and missed him, police said.
Custard was an electrician with the 647th Civil Engineer Squadron at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam when the shooting happened.
Delays in taking the case to trial prompted Circuit Judge Randal Lee to dismiss the case on July 3. However, prosecutor refiled the charges and it was presented to the grand jury on Wednesday.
