Man who fell from Big Island cliff is identified

    A Honolulu man who died after falling from a cliff in Pepeekeo on the Big Island has been identified.

The man who died after falling from a cliff on the Big Island has been identified as 24-year-old Keylan Sato of Honolulu.

Hawaii Police Department said Sato fell from a cliff in Pepeekeo approximately 80 feet on Sunday at 11:28 a.m.

Sato was reportedly hiking to the shore to dive with his friends when he fell, Hawaii Police said. 

Fire officials rescued him from the bottom of Loa Road and took him to Hilo Medical Center where he died at 12:45 p.m.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
