Maui firefighters doused two small brush fires Tuesday, and no one was injured and no damages were reported.

The first broke out at 11:42 a.m. across from Maui Memorial Park in Kahului.

The Fire Department helicopter and firefighters on the ground responded to the Waiinu Road fire where 1.5 acres of kiawe trees and dry brush burned, fire officials said in an email.

The fire was under control at 12:15 p.m.

Firefighters later retuned to mop up any hot spots after they extinguished a Wailuku brush fire on Leleihoku Street behind Baldwin High School.

About an acre of dry grass was involved in the Wailuku fire, but no structures were threatened, nor any injuries reported, fire officials said.

Firefighters brought it under control at 4:26 p.m., and extinguished it at 4:55 p.m.

A fire inspector was at the scene to conduct an investigation.
