Wailea Beach on Maui is one of several local beaches making Travel + Leisure’s list for Best Beaches on Earth
The best Hawaiian island for a vacation is Maui, according to a new ranking from U.S. News & World Report.
The 2014-15 best vacations rankings, which considered expert and consumer opinions, kept Paris in the top spot for the second year in a row, followed by London; Barcelona, Spain; Maui and New York City.
No other Hawaiian islands made the top 25 list.
Honolulu was No. 8 among the 20 top vacation destinations in the U.S. The top five included Maui at No. 1, Yellowstone (Wyoming, Montana and Idaho); Washington, D.C.; San Francisco; and New York City.
The rest of the top 10 U.S. destinations are San Diego; Yosemite, Calif.; Honolulu; Orlando – Walt Disney World, Fla.; and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Hawaii’s so-called ninth island, Las Vegas, was ranked at No. 17.
