Missing furlough inmate Ryan Walker, 35, was arrested this morning in Kakaako.
A 35-year-old Oahu Community Correctional inmate, who failed to return from a work furlough program pass Wednesday, was captured by state sheriffs this morning in Kakaako.
Ryan Walker, who was serving time for second-degree sex assault, and first-degree burglary, left the prison Wednesday at 6 p.m. on a program pass and failed to return a few hours later.
He was arrested by the Sheriff Division Special Operations Fugitive Unit at 6:50 a.m. in Kakaako.
He no faces a second-degree escape charge. His next parole hearing is scheduled for October.

Sex crimes & burglaries should be excluded from a work release program.
Sex crime therapy, is a long term process, that can not be achieved, while still an inmate.
What parole hearing in October? Why waste time and money for the hearing? He forfeited his rights to a parole for having violating his furlough and capture!!!!!

I can’t believe we still allow this work furlough program to exist. How much money are we wasting having to re-capture these ungrateful people who we then have to support for a longer period of time to be in jail. And while we are at it, turn off their A/C and give it to the schools. I’d rather innocent children get A/C first before giving it to prisoners.
Because parole and furlough programs are a relief valve for the overcrowding at the correctional facilities which unfortunately results in inmates who still are dangerous to the public being released…..
The AC is not for the inmates but for the union staff.
