A 21-year-old man died at the Queen’s Medical Center last night from injuries suffered in a moped crash in Village Park yesterday afternoon.

Police said the man was driving a stolen, yellow 1998 moped that collided into the back of a parked Dodge Dakota pickup truck at 5:24 p.m. yesterday near 94-498 Kupuna Loop.

The man was ejected onto the road and suffered head injuries, police said. His condition worsened in the hospital and he died at 10:22 p.m., police said.

Police said speed may be a factor in the crash and the moped driver was not wearing a helmet.

The death is the 8th traffic fatality this year in Honolulu.
