The National Weather Service has issued a high-surf advisory for the north and west shores of Oahu, Kauai, Molokai and Niihau, and the north shores of Maui, effective through 6 p.m. Monday.

Forecasters predict surf of 12 to 16 feet on north shores, and 8 to 12 feet of west shores.

Beachgoers are warned to expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong longshore and rip currents that could make swimming difficult and dangerous.
