OCCC inmate charged with escape after capture

Oahu Community Correctional Center inmate Aaron Maxwell, who was serving time for assault, was charged with escape for failing to return while on work furlough in November.

Maxwell was serving a five-year prison term for second-degree assault when he failed to return to the prison on Nov. 8. He was captured Jan. 4.

The escape charge is a class C felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

    I don’t see why they don’t attach those tracking devices for the work release inmates. Being on the loose for almost two months is way too long. Think of the liability in the event of a serious crime.

    Our prisons are just a disaster.

      The top 2% go to Harvard, Stanford, etc. and then the bottom 2% lead a life of crime, vagrancy, etc. Sometimes those in the top 2% go to jail also. Similarly those in the bottom 2% rise to shine.
